E.C. Regulations, based on revised Codex Standard 118, define “gluten free” PARNUTS* foods as containing less than 20PPM gluten. PARNUTS foods above 20PPM and below 100PPM must be labelled “very low gluten”. The prevalence of food allergy is increasing and there is no cure for the condition; food allergic consumers must avoid food allergens and rely on clear, accurate food labelling.
